Polarized Sunglasses in general provide protection from the sunlight, and are popular with singers as well as it blocks the glare and heat of stage lights. Skiers love them during sunny days to reduce snow blindness and golfers like to use polarized glasses while playing on very bright days to see the ball better.

Polarized sunglasses use vertically oriented polarizer's to reflect horizontally polarized light such as that reflected from water or highways. These coatings can be made in different colors, like blue, or silver, for styling or fashion reasons. Mirrors do not get as hot in sunlight because they reflect the sunlight and heat.

There is some argument that polarized lenses and their usefulness, but most agree they are much better than no sunglasses. Most Polarized sunglasses are set in either metal frames or wrap around frames. The plastic wrap frames can add color or pattern to the sunglasses for a fashion statement. Wrap around polarized sunglasses are very popular with the extreme sports crowd.
